film school

Buzzing brain... that's a thing, right?

With pre-production in full swing on my next film, my work days are very long at the moment (12–14 hours most days) and very full. My brain is packed to the brim and I've been meaning to write a proper post for weeks, but there's almost too much buzzing around in my head to make sense of.

Looking forward to sharing more information about the actual project soon... We shoot in five weeks!

Film openings

Every week at VCA there's a screenwriting lecture for most of the classes in the School of Film & Television. However, as I've gone directly into second year of the Master of Film & Television, it clashes with one of my other subjects—my classmates went to the same lecture series last year.

This week our Tuesday afternoon subject was cancelled though, and it meant I was able to go along to the lecture, which was Ben Michael discussing film openings. It was thought-provoking and came at just the right time for me. It really got me thinking about the opening of my current project in development, beyond just story.

Below are some of my notes from the lecture.

And then, this evening, this video came up in my 'Recommended' feed on YouTube.

And, as per Ben's recommendation, I did watch Crispin Glover's appearance on Letterman. You should too.
